PIEDMONT, ITALY [BAROLO]
A tightly knit nose, with a carefully measured mix of dried cranberries and cherries, smoked orange peel, and herbal amaro-like notes.
This Barolo unfolds with crushed red fruits and dried citrus peel, while fresh and dried herbs add complexity. Sun-warmed earth and dusty notes ground the wine, with fine tannins providing elegant structure. Tart berries dance across the palate, leading to a finish marked by distinctive gravelly minerality. — Jeff Porter, Wine Enthusiast
Poderi Ruggeri Corsini is a family-run winery situated in Monforte d'Alba, a historic village known for its ancient stone houses at the heart of the Langhe. This single-vineyard Barolo is elegant but still quite meaty, with well-polished tannins and a smooth finish. It features notes of ripe currants, tobacco, and cocoa powder. This Barolo is a great value, partly because Corsini wines are imported directly into the state, bypassing an intermediary. It pairs well with a hearty osso buco or a sharp, aged cheese. Eminently suitable for aging, if you can resist a Barolo that already drinks well.
