Emmerich Knoll (pronounced with a hard “K”) represents three generations of family winemaking rooted in the village of Unterloiben in Austria’s famed Wachau region—an estate shaped alongside the family’s historic 400-year-old Loibnerhof Familie Knoll restaurant in nearby Dürnstein.
Today, Weingut Emmerich Knoll farms 15 hectares of steep, terraced vineyards carved into the Wachau’s dramatic landscape, where Grüner Veltliner and Riesling thrive in thin soils, intense exposures, and meticulously tended parcels. Their cuvées are celebrated for purity, precision, and age-worthy structure—hallmarks of the Knoll family legacy.
As a proud member of “Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus”—an elite association of Wachau winemakers following strict quality standards—Knoll Winery consistently produces wines that earn top spots on Michelin restaurants, including the legendary 3-star Michelin restaurant, The French Laundry.
Ried Kreutles, nestled at the foot of Loibenberg Mountain and close to the Danube, benefits from gentle slopes and calcareous loam soils—conditions ideally suited to Grüner Veltliner and known for producing wines of finesse and clarity.
Hand-harvested with rigorous sorting to eliminate any trace of botrytis, the 2023 Grüner Veltliner from this site is crafted to express the vineyard’s character with purity and mouthwatering vibrancy.
Tasting Notes: 100% Grüner Veltliner. The wine stands out for its subtle elegance, crispness, bright fruit character, and mineral hints.
The wine's aromas are dominated by meadow grasses, orange peel, tobacco leaves, and white rhubarb, complemented by apple, pear, and gooseberry nuances. The wine has an excellent structure and balanced, fresh acidity. Long wine aging potential.
