I Custodi delle Vigne dell'Etna Aetneus 2019 is a richly concentrated red, boasting a ruby hue. On the nose, it is profound and ethereal, redolent with ripe fruit and tobacco notes. It exudes elegance and harmony. On the palate, it is robust and profound, with a markedly tannic character. It is refined, balanced, and culminates in a lingering finish.
 
Aetneus Etna Rosso I Custodi, natural wine, organic wine, Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Alicante, very old vines (some 150 years old), low yields, seriously structured and savoury red wine. The top Cuvee from I Custodi is a veritable ‘Vin de Garde’. Like Barolo or serious Brunello, this is a wine to keep and really not to touch for a good 10 years. The current cuvee is just starting to come into its own and show is style and smooth supple dark fruits, tobacco, dried herbs, spices and minerals. The savoury undertones of the wine are magnificent, outstanding with Roast Hog and Spuds, done over vine shoots of course. This vintage is a little funkier than usual with notes of Volatile Acidity on the nose, for the out and out natural wine lovers, this one, for those not familiar with the style, tread carefully.
