SW FRANCE (Pyrenees)
An equal parts blend, 33% each of Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, with 1% Fer Servadou. This wine has a suave, elegant texture and old school earthy flavors. Aged in barrel for two years - one third of them new - which was enough to soften the hard tannic edges these wines can show. The nose has blackcurrant and blackberry, soil, tomato leaf, and roasted coffee. The palate is framed with polished tannins wrapped around pitch black fruit, pipe smoke, soil and tobacco, iron and a hint of citrus acidity. Pair with game, grilled steak, pork loin, and all sorts of full bodied, savory food.
